Employment Numbers Released: Update on Paid Workers | General News

The Total Number of Paid Employees in Turkey Shows Significant Increase
In February 2023, the total number of paid employees in the industry, construction, and trade-service sectors reached 14 million 515 thousand 554 people. This figure shows a 6.6% increase compared to the same month of the previous year. The detailed analysis of the data also highlights that each sector displayed a different level of growth in the number of paid employees.
The industry sector saw a 4.2% increase, the construction sector experienced a 15.4% rise, and the trade-service sector had a 6.7% increase in paid employees in February 2023 compared to the figures from the previous year. Altogether, these numbers show a strong upward trend in paid employment in Turkey.
However, despite the annual increase, the total number of paid employees in the mentioned sectors remained unchanged in February 2023 compared to January 2023. The specifics of the data demonstrate that while the number of paid employees increased by 0.1% in the industry sector on a monthly basis, it remained unchanged in the construction and trade-service sector.
The analysis indicates that the construction industry significantly contributed to the yearly increase in employment. The construction sector has been one of the leading industries that have had a profound impact on the growth of the Turkish economy. The overall increase in paid employment implies a balanced distribution among the industry, construction, and trade-service sectors, which might help Turkey’s economy maintain growth in the future.
