Hungarian University of Fine Arts to Hold Live Charity Auction
On April 21st, a live charity auction will take place for the first time in the history of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. The auction, in conjunction with the Turkish Embassy in Budapest and the Yunus Emre Institute’s Cultural Center in Budapest, will feature 128 works of art donated by the university’s faculty and students. This came after an online campaign that has been running for weeks. Large-scale oil-acrylic paintings, figurative and abstract works, as well as artistic prints and works in various precious techniques are among the 78 student and 50 faculty works up for bidding.
The event will be held in the Barcsay Hall of the University and hosted by Antónia Bálint and Gábor Gundel Takács. Additionally, artists from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music will perform the opening concert. Those who buy the three most valuable auction lots will receive a bottle of gift-wrapped Szenta-hegyi Cabernet Franc 2018 wine as a gift, and all bidders will be invited to Takler Borbár in Buda for a free wine tasting.
Registration is necessary to participate in the charity auction, and interested parties can apply to bid via the email address jotekonysag@mke.hu or by phone. All bidders will be contributing to a good cause as the money raised will be channeled through the Turkish Embassy in Budapest to the Disaster and Emergency Management Bureau of the Ministry of Interior of Turkey, which will coordinate local relief efforts.
Moreover, those who cannot participate in the live auction can still support the charity by donating online. Until April 20th donors can receive one of 100 limited edition graphic design works as a gift on the Sharity platform.
