Free Travel Days in Hungary!
Pope Francis' upcoming visit to Budapest from 28-30 April will be more accessible to the public than initially expected. Hungarian National Railway (MÁV) announced that people can travel for free to and from Budapest during the papal visit via public transportation in Hungary, including every train and long-distance/suburban bus service. The fare exemption is valid on 2nd class coaches, but passengers will have to pay any necessary surcharges and the 1st class supplement. The exact method of checking who is traveling for the papal visit is unclear, but it was announced that free travel does not even require the purchase of a registration ticket. During his visit, Pope Francis will visit refugees, poor people, and children of the Blessed László Batthyány-Strattmann Institute, celebrate Mass for the faithful, meet the local Jesuit community, and have meetings with Hungarian President Katalin Novák and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The papal visit has an official logo and the "Christ is our future" slogan.
