Two Rockets Hit Sudanese Minister's House in Capital Khartoum
Sudanese Mining Minister Mohammed Bashir's house in the Bahri district of the capital Khartoum was hit by two rockets, according to information received from ministry sources. The incident caused two casualties, both from the minister's family, and three injuries, two of them being the minister's bodyguards. Fortunately, Bashir escaped unharmed.
It is unknown who was responsible for the attack, but it occurred during clashes in the capital, where the Ministry of Mines building was also targeted the day before.
The situation in Sudan remains tense since the removal of former President Omar al-Bashir from office in April 2019. Demonstrations that started then have continued, as protesters demand a civilian-led government and an end to military rule.
The transitional government formed in August last year has been working towards stabilizing the country and preparing for democratic elections. However, civil unrest and violence persist in many parts of Sudan, as various groups compete for power and influence. The recent attack on Minister Bashir's house serves as a reminder of the challenges that the transitional government faces in ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
