Passenger Bus Catches Fire in Turkey’s Mugla Province

A passenger bus traveling from Fethiye to Hatay caught fire in Turkey’s Mugla Province on Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle reportedly broke down near Bayır Mahallesi in Seydikemer district, and flames were seen rising from the engine compartment. Fortunately, the driver noticed the situation in time and pulled over on the side of the road. All passengers were evacuated safely before the fire spread throughout the bus.

Authorities were immediately alerted, and first responders including health, gendarmerie, and firefighters from the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade Department Seydikemer Group Supervisor quickly arrived on the scene. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, but the passenger bus became unusable as a result of the damage.

There were no injuries or loss of life in the incident, and a new bus was dispatched from Fethiye to transport the passengers on to their destination of Hatay. Some passengers were able to capture footage of the fire with their mobile phones.

Officials have yet to comment on the cause of the fire, or whether any further investigation will take place.
