National Policy Aims to Preserve Hungarian Communities

Hungary's State Secretary for National Policy, Árpád János Potápi, recently spoke at an event organized by the Transylvanian Hungarian Public Culture Association (EMKE) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Potápi emphasized that the Hungarian government and EMKE share the common goal of ensuring the continued existence of the Hungarian people in the Carpathian Basin and beyond, for many years to come. He also stressed the need for a change in attitude towards the Hungarian nation, beyond Hungary in the narrow sense. Potápi highlighted the work the Hungarian government has done to strengthen Hungarian communities and institutions of national importance in the past 13 years, including the National New Start Programme and the increase of the education grant to 100,000 forints. Potápi also received an award for his consistent support to Hungarian organizations and communities in the Carpathian Basin at the event.
