Parliament's General Assembly holds a meeting – Latest Update

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey has held its General Assembly meeting, led by Deputy Speaker Nimetullah Erdoğmuş. After speeches on various issues, the group deputies discussed and evaluated the agenda. One of the main topics was the decision to lift the immunity of Kocaeli Deputy Lütfü Türkkan, which was met with criticism from the IYI, CHP, and HDP parties. IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Musavat Dervişoğlu criticized the Joint Commission for not regularly convening, and stated that the removal of immunity should not be a subject of daily politics. Meanwhile, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel criticized the force commanders' applause for President Erdoğan's speech. AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Ozlem Zengin responded to opposition parties' criticisms on various issues, including the appointment request regarding the constitutional amendment proposal. The opposition's group proposals were rejected, while group proposals regarding the agenda and working days and hours of the AK Party were accepted. During the deliberations of the Bill on the Amendment of the "Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law, Some Laws, and the Decree Law No. 375" there was a discussion of 'appointment' between the AK Party and opposition parties. The HDP spokespersons reminded the process of the closure case against their party in the Constitutional Court, while CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel continued his reaction to the Constitutional Justice Commission's agenda setting and decision. The discussions on the bill are still ongoing in the General Assembly.
