President Erdogan Rejects Neighborhood Pressure in Award Ceremony Speech
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently spoke at the 2022 Ministry of Culture and Tourism Culture and Arts Special Awards Ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to the institutions, organizations, and artists who have contributed to the cultural and artistic climate of the country since 1979. Erdoğan emphasized that respecting art and artists means protecting their works and efforts, which is crucial for ensuring the legacy they have entrusted to us. He drew attention to the fact that young people who are interested in different fields of culture and art write their own success stories inspired by their masters. Erdoğan pointed out that a society is as strong as its cultural and artistic experience, and the permanence of gains made in defense, economy, and other fields depends on culture and art. He stated that Turkey has a deep-rooted experience of 1000 years and a cultural treasure that is unmatched in the world. Erdoğan shared his vision of breaking the chains of tutelage in the field of culture and art and achieving much greater success for the country and the nation. The ceremony awarded the Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Special Award, and amusing dialogues took place between Yavuz, his 88-year-old mother and Erdoğan. Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Deputy Ministers of Culture and Tourism, Özgül Özkan Yavuz, Ahmet Misbah Demircan, and many guests attended the ceremony held at the Presidential Symphony Orchestra History Hall.
