Siverek's Sacred Relic, Sakal-ı Şerif, Now Open to Visitors
Siverek District in Turkey has opened up the Sakal-ı Şerif, a holy relic believed to contain hairs from the beard of Prophet Muhammad. The relic, which is preserved in the Great Mosque in Camikebir District, was taken out of its coffin by Mufti Muhammed Çiçek and imams, accompanied by hymns and opened to visitors with prayers and takbirs. The citizens who wanted to see the relic formed long queues inside and outside the courtyard of the mosque. The Sakal-ı Şerif will be open to male visitors today and female visitors on Tuesday. The relic is considered to be a priceless symbol of Islamic history and is held in high esteem by Muslims all over the world. It is hoped that this display of the Sakal-ı Şerif will bring peace and unity to the community and promote respect for religious and cultural diversity in the region.
